mikehummel > Michael HummelPhotography has always been a hobby of mine; and have always enjoyed being behind the camera rather then in front of it.
As most people who grew up before the advent of the digital camera, I started my hobby with film. Regardless of my embrace of all things technical, I resisted the urge to move completely away from film and into the digital medium. I owned a Leica M7, and thought that it would be my camera for life. As better digital cameras came out, and the film canisters laid undeveloped in my drawer, I realized that it was time to make the ultimate switch; and I sold my Leica and purchased a Canon 40D. This, along with my 24-105 lens, has become my default setup. Since then I have upgraded to the Canon 5D Mark II with a 35mm 1.4.

While I take plenty of photos at weddings, parties, and walking around town; my favorite subjects are kids and old people. Both of these subjects show all their emotions; never bothering to hide what they are momentarily feeling.
